I am not usually a fan of Oysters, having tried once before in the raw form at a Christmas Party which was more of a dare then the appeal of swallowing something slimey. Having been put off by that experience I was never keen these little delicacies. I was persuaded to try a fried Oyster, while some may argue that this ruins the integrity of an Oyster, I can honestly say I loved it.
Nestled in a small Shoreditch side street is Merchants Tavern usually a buzzy little bar come evening time or Friday nights. I stopped by for a quick lunch. I’d been lucky enough to be invited to a taster menu a few weeks before. I experienced one of the most delightful desserts that I’ve tried in some time. The chocolate mousse-style pudding was absolutely decadent.
