A beautiful city that I’ve always wanted to visit for many years now. Bath is the only city in the UK designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and lived up to expectations, I only wished that I could have spent some time in the Roman Baths or had rented a place with a view overlooking the City.

It’s Christmas week and as I walk around the streets I certainly feel quite lucky to be here. The city has an old charm about it, usually I only experience this feeling in some of the older cities in Italy. The long train journey was definitely worth the effort, it’s a very easy city to navigate around and I haven’t once used needed to order a taxi or used the buses. My hotel is in the centre of town and only 2 mins walk from the Roman Baths, so I get to walk for a few hours and pop back whenever I am in need of a rest.

On Christmas morning I take a walk along the Pulteney Bridge which crosses the River Avon, I certainly could live here. Although I can imagine in the Summer the town must me mobbed with tourists so that wouldn’t be my cup of tea.
I walked around the smaller streets which their unique little stores everything from independent fashion, restaurants, home interiors and little Cafes.
I didn’t need to eat out in the evening as I had rented a self-catering apartment, but I did have a Thai lunch at the top rated place on Tripadvisor – great décor but the food was wholeheartedly disappointing. The rice was very plain and not very tasty and the fish cakes were as dry as a rice cake. I made my way along to the French Macaron store along the main high street, with flavours galore and chocolates that any sweet tooth would happily spend hours discovering.
Verdict
I’d love to visit the city again and perhaps experience one of the City bus tours to learn more about the history of Bath town.
